A simple and quick recipe for Fresh Cod Fish Recipe. Seasoned cod fillets seasoned with fresh herbs and lemon. The amazing recipe is ready from start to finish in under 20 minutes, perfect for a lazy dinner.
Anytime I have the opportunity to make this Fresh Cod Fish Recipe I do. I love cod fish because its so versatile, it can be baked, fried or steamed.
Which ever way you prefer it, its easy to cook and has such a light texture when eating if cooked correctly.
HOW TO BAKE COD FISH
Cod Fish is one of the easiest things to make. All you have to do is put the cod fillets in a baking pan, smother them with the seasoning, and bake for about 20 minutes, depending on thickness. Add a little lemon, honey and parsley and you’re all done.
STEP ONE: WASH AND RINSE
Clean the fish with water and lemon juice then pat dry with a pepper towel.
STEP TWO: SEASON THE FISH
Make the seasoning mix by using, paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, lemon pepper, salt/ pepper and avocado oil.
STEP THREE: BAKE
Bake at 400F for 15-20 minutes depending on the thickness. Coat lightly with lemon and honey.
Enjoy !
HOW LONG DO YOU COOK COD FISH?
The thickness of the cod fillet will impact the cooking time of the fish. A thicker and larger fillet will require a few more minutes of cooking time.
Just be sure to not over cook or the fish will be dry! A thinner fillet will cook quicker. It's better to take the fish out to early rather then to late. For the best result cook as instructed .
IS COD HEALTHY TO EAT
There are two types of cod fish Atlantic and Pacific. Pacific Codhas moisture content a little higher than that ofAtlantic Cod, making it less firm.
Codis a nutritious and flavorful fish loaded with lean protein, vitamins, and minerals. Although lower in omega-3s than fatty fish, codcan still be part of ahealthy diet.
CAN I USE FROZEN COD?
Yes, store bought frozencod will work but fresh fish is always better. If using frozen fish just be sure to completely thaw the cod fillets before cooking. Thaw the cod in the refrigerator.

The recipe indicates to coat fish with honey and lemon but I do not see honey in the recipe ingredients nor did I see it used in the video. Are you using honey in this cod recipe? Thank you for sharing your recipes.Bernadette

Hi Bernie! This is optional. Yes, I did use it in this recipe. You can add the lemon and honey right before you put it in the oven or after. I hope this helps 🙂
