How To Trade in Warframe (Trading Guide 2024) (2024)

Warframe has a healthy player-facilitated market and economy centered around its premium in-game currency, Platinum. You will need to dig through the rather user-unfriendly trade chat to open it up. Once you get used to trading in Warframe, however, you’ll quickly find that the activity itself is its own game mode. So to get you started down this rabbit hole, here’s how to trade in Warframe in 2024.

What Can’t be Traded in Warframe

First things first, you need to know which items can or can’t be traded. It’s easier to just list anything that’s not available for trading.

Check the table below to see which items cannot be traded:

Flawed Mods (beginner mods)
Umbra Mods
Resources
Ranked weapons
Crafted weapons & Warframes
Regular, non-Prime Warframes
Any currency that isn’t Platinum
Forma & Forma Blueprint
Orokin Reactor/Catalyst
Exilus/Arcane Adapters
Cosmetics (except Syndicate armor & Kuva Lich/Tenet Sister Ephemeras

Everything else is fair game (feel free to comment on the items I might have missed). The price depends on market demand and supply. The rarer an item is or the fewer the sellers, the more expensive it is.

As for the currency, it’s usually Platinum but you might be able to negotiate a barter if the other party is open to it.

Finding a Buyer or Seller

Most trading in Warframe starts with looking for a person selling the item you want or need. Or if you’re the one selling, the process is still the same — looking for the person buying the tradeable item you have.

There are two places where you can look for sellers or buyers:

  1. In-game chat. This usually involves Trade Chat or even your Clan Chat.
  2. Third-party websites. Websites like warframe.market tend to be more popular alternatives to the chaotic Trade chat.

Depending on where you’re looking for a buyer or a seller, there are two instructions for trading that I will detail in a step-by-step process.

Trading Through Trade Chat

  1. Post your buy ad (WTB) or sell ad (WTS) on the Trade Chat along with the item you’re looking for or selling and include a price in Platinum (or not).
  2. If you’re selling, wait for Whispers from other players.
  3. If you’re buying or if you’ve found a potential buyer, right-click or tap on the name of the seller or buyer in Trade Chat.
  4. Select Whisper.
  5. Ask if the item is still available or if they’re still interested.
  6. Agree or disagree with the deal. Meet up if you both agree (more on that later).

All that takes place in the Whisper Chat window. Remember to haggle or perhaps compare prices from other sellers or buyers. The same trading process applies to trading through your Clan Chat.

Trading Through a 3rd-Party Warframe Market

Trading through warframe.market is a little harder if you’re on the consoles or other platforms since it’s a website. So you’re going to need to open a browser.

  1. Open warframe.market and make sure to select the correct gaming platform.
  2. Enter the name of the item you want to sell or buy in the warframe.market search console.
  3. Select whether you want a list of sellers or buyers in the results.
  4. Click on the Buy or Sell button on the right. This will copy their details on your clipboard.
  5. Head back in-game and paste their info on the chat box.
  6. Wait for players to reply, sometimes they’re in-game so others might take a while to respond.
  7. Agree or disagree with the deal. Meet up if you both agree (more on that later).

Where to Trade in Warframe

Now that you’ve agreed to the trade deal, it’s time to meet up with the other party.

As for etiquette, it’s usually the item’s seller that should invite players since they’re often parked in their Clan Dojo, ready to perform multiple trades.

Speaking of which, there are only two places in-game where trading is allowed, the Clan Dojo and Maroo’s Bazaar on Mars. I’ll be walking you through the step-by-step process for both.

Trading in the Clan Dojo

This is the ideal place in which to trade since it’s easier. But either you or the person with whom you’re trading has to be a member of a Clan. Assuming you’re selling or are the one tasked to invite the other party in a trade, here’s how to trade in a Clan Dojo.

  1. Ensure you have a Clan Dojo Key (craftable through the Foundry).
  2. Invite the player you’re trading with by selecting or clicking their name and selecting ‘Invite.’
  3. Once they’re in the squad, go to your Clan Dojo. The other party has to accept the destination.
  4. Once in the Clan Dojo, look for the Trading Posts (image above for reference). Head to the Trading Post and activate it.
  5. Select your trading partner from the list.
  6. Select and exchange the items/currency.

Trading in Maroo’s Bazaar

If both of you don’t have a Clan or don’t have access to the Clan Dojo yet, then Maroo’s Bazaar on Mars is the only option.

  1. Ensure you have access to Mars (Maroo’s Bazaar, specifically).
  2. Invite the player you’re trading with by selecting or clicking their name and selecting ‘Invite.’
  3. Once they’re in the squad, go to Maroo’s Bazaar, Mars. The other party has to accept the destination.
  4. The seller should set up shop in Maroo’s Bazaar (items don’t matter). Press Q or the D-pad (or the button for Emotes/Gear Wheel), then select ‘set up shop.’
  5. Your trading partner can then walk up to you and initiate a trade.
  6. Select and exchange the items/currency.

There’s more to trading in Warframe than just exchanging as it’s a whole, living, and breathing economy or ecosystem. You can even out-deal or outsmart other players if you’re knowledgeable enough.

Play around with the trading system and make sure to perform due diligence before buying or selling. You’ll be cornering the market in no time. Maybe.
